Dehesa del Carrizal
Dehesa del Carrizal is a Vino de Pago, the highest category according to Spanish wine law. It is a DOP reserved for those few wineries and vineyards which carry out the whole process, from the grape to the bottle, within the limits of the Pago or estate, and that have a particularly unique location, soil and climate. The estate is located in the middle of the Montes de Toledo, near the Cabañeros National Park, where the Mediterranean climate with Atlantic influences, paired with the clay and quartz rich soils make it a particularly interesting yet ideal site for the cultivation of mostly traditional French varieties.
Petit Verdot Dehesa Del Carrizal
Region / Producer
It is said that the name Petit Verdot comes from a rough translation of “little green one” alluding to the late-ripening characteristic of the variety. This makes it an ideal grape to grow in the Mediterranean climes of Montes de Toledo. Planted on the youngest vineyards of the estate the resulting wine offers an intriguing nose of dark berries, liquorice, violets and balsamic. The palate is fresh, smooth and packed with ripe tannins, not forgetting that signature streak of graphite that lingers even after you've put your glass down. Can be cellared for up to 20 years!
